Robotic ease of Disassembly Metric (Re-DiM)
Time-based metric for quantifying disassembly effort

Step-by-Step Workflow of the Re-DiM Tool
Re-DiM, which stands for Robotic Ease of Disassembly Metric, is a time-based method developed to assess the effort required to disassemble products manually, robotically, and through human-robot cooperation.
With Re-DiM, the disassembly time can be quantified in a non-subjective manner to identify opportunities for improving the product design in four steps:
- After preparatory work (1),
- the metric can be filled with all required information (2),
- to evaluate the estimated time for manual and robotic disassembly efforts (3).
- Each disassembly step can be analysed in detail and findings help to identify improvement strategies to ease the disassembly (4).
Detailed step-by-step instructions are included in the Excel.

The Re-DiM tool was developed under the SCANDERE project granted from the ERA-MIN3 program under grant number 101003575.
