Privacy
Cookie policy
The first time you visit, you choose whether we may use optional analytics. Necessary cookies run the site and do not need that consent. You can change the choice at any time from the footer.
Who is responsible
SUDE is a KU Leuven project. KU Leuven is the controller for personal data processed through this website.
How we ask
A notice appears on your first visit. Accept all turns analytics on. Essential only keeps only what the site needs. Customize lets you set analytics on or off, then save. The choice is stored for thirteen months in a first-party cookie named sude_consent, then we ask again. Closing the tab does not reset it.
Necessary cookies
These are first-party cookies used to provide a service you ask for. They are not used to profile you or for advertising.
- sude_consent: stores whether analytics is on or off, and when you chose. Max-Age 13 months. Set when you use the notice.
- accessToken and refreshToken: keep you signed in after you log in. HttpOnly. Cleared on logout or when the token expires.
- tools_run_session: remembers that you already entered the tools-run password. HttpOnly. Set only if you use live identification or enrichment.
- locale: optional language preference. The site currently ships English only. This cookie is read if present; the pages do not set it today.
Similar technology that is not a cookie
The homepage opening animation is remembered with sessionStorage (key sude-intro-played) in this browser tab. It is never sent to our servers and is not used for analytics. It clears when you close the tab. A normal reload keeps it; Ctrl+Shift+R or Shift+F5 plays the animation again.
Analytics (optional)
If you accept, production loads self-hosted Plausible for anonymous page-view counts. Plausible is configured without advertising cookies and is not used to sell data. It is not loaded on development or staging hosts, and it is not loaded anywhere until you accept. You can switch it off later; we then set localStorage plausible_ignore so remaining events are ignored and the script is removed.
